DAY 1. Arrival on Hvar Island (Jelsa)

Upon your arrival to Hvar island we will transfer you to your accommodation in Jelsa. Then, after a welcome drink in the evening, you will be introduced to your guide and also get the opportunity to get to know all the members of the team and the group, as well as learn more about the program.

DAY 2. Off to Brac

9:00 AM We start our day with an introduction to sea kayaking and equipment after which we have safety briefing. Then we set off towards the small islet of Zečevo, have a swim if we feel like and soon after we are leaving Hvar to make the crossing over to Brač island, that is the town of Bol. Since we are supposed to arrive there early in the day we’ll have enough time to explore the area from the kayak. This side of Brač is known for its wonderful pebble beaches but the most famous one, and the reason why Bol have gained its reputation is Zlatni Rat or Golden Horn, tongue-shaped pebble beach with its tip changing direction with the winds and currents. It is one of the most photographed beaches on the planet!

Other than that it is a very beautiful little town (and the only one on the south side of the island) with characteristic Dalmatian style of alleys, squares, stone houses, beachside restaurants and bars.

We will spend the night in a private accommodation on Brac.

NAUTICAL MILES TRAVELED: Jelsa (Hvar)  – Bol (Brač) : 6.5 NM

DAY 3.  To Hvar and Vira Bay

9:00 AM Today’s adventure takes us back to Hvar, but first we’ll cruise a bit heading west, find a pebble beach to have a swim and rest before leaving Brač to make crossing to the other side of the already familiar channel separating these two pretty different and yet neighboring islands. Simply speaking Brač is huge, massive, boasting highest island peak in the Adriatic while Hvar is elongated, slender, but once upon a time they both used to be one body with the mainland. The north shores of Hvar that we are going to kayak around are jagged with exposed sharp rocks but in between there are coves providing shelter to boats against most, not all winds, and occasionally little beaches. In a suitable spot we’ll make a stop for swimming, resting and finally arrive to Vira bay to set up camp for the night.

NAUTICAL MILES TRAVELED: Bol (Brač) – Vira (Hvar): 12 NM

DAY 4.  Exploring the Pakleni archipelago

9:00 AM Today we head westward, passing the point of Hvar island and paddling to the Pakleni islands archipelago. The origin of the name Pakleni goes back to the time when the islands here were the main source of resin for local shipbuilders. Today, just like then, the islands are covered with thick pine woods providing refreshing shade even during the hottest summer days. The route through narrow straits and along the islands reveals small hidden pebble beaches where you can claim a deserted beach or even a whole island as yours (at least temporarily!) for a swim. We’ll first explore the westernmost islets of the archipelago exposed to the open sea toward Vis island. Then we’ll go to St. Klement – the main island in the group and eventually, depending on the weather conditions and our preferences find a spot to set up “wild camping” and enjoy overnight under the stars.

Vira (Hvar) – St.Klement (Pakleni): 8 – 10 NM

DAY 5.  North to Hvar town

9:00 AM Today is supposed to be relatively easier, i.e. shorter paddling day to Hvar town. But since the aim of this trip is to enjoy it as much as possible we’ll make most out of kayaking in this archipelago. If we don’t make it the day before we’ll check the tiny village of Vlaka and the remains of a Roman Villa rustica in a beautiful ambience next to vineyards. Then we go on exploring islets and coves with stops for snorkeling, swimming and enter the most famous bay of Vinogradišće set in a subtropical paradise of lush vegetation with a few excellent restaurants and bars. After lunch, we go on, make another stop for snorkeling, swimming on a smaller island and finally we land in Hvar town, where we spend the night in a private guesthouse.

DAY 6   Hvar town guided tour, free time, farewell dinner

Today you will enjoy one of the most popular and beautiful towns in the world – Hvar town! In the morning we will begin with a short guided city tour to some of the most famous Renaissance landmarks in all Croatia and other historic/cultural treasures. Then, the rest of the day is yours to do as you wish.  Rent a scooter, hang out at one of Hvar town’s famous cafes/bars, do some shopping or do some more sightseeing.  We also have a number of optional tours you can take – like sailing, climbing, cycling, or an island tour by off-road vehicles – so you can learn something about the interior of the island, not just the coastline…It’s all up to you. Tonight, it’s a farewell dinner in one of town’s best restaurants. Overnight in Hvar in private guesthouses.

NAUTICAL MILES TRAVELED: St. Klement (Palmizana) – Hvar (Hvar) : 6 – 8 NM
