Korcula sailing experience

The story behind the boat…

Until a decade ago Tofinou 9.5 was one of the best kept French secrets. Then this masterpiece of Michael Joubert coming from Latitude 46 started being recognised around the world mostly as an exquisite owner’s boat. Nevertheless she is still quite a rare sight especially on this side of the Adriatic sea. If one had to describe with one word her appearance and saling experience she provides that word would simply be beautiful.

Built following the old design of Tofinou 7 from the 1920s, the boat was given modern features and materials perfectly matching its classic line resulting in outstanding look and performances making it thus a sensitive mix of traditional and modern. While boasting mahagony cabin tops, full teak decks and carbon mast, she is a sure head turner on every water way she visits.

The experience…

Immaculately built with stuning looks, her extreme simplicity allows for apprehension-free solitary navigation and also permits serene outings with family or friends. In other words she is the day sailing indulgence perfect for two up to max. six people.

And after all if Harrison Ford got himself two of these boats that appeared in the film «What lies beneath», that also says something, doesn’t it?

The archipelago of islands spreading in the triangle between Korčula, Orebić i Lumbarda is a wonderful setting for daily sailing even by Dalmatian standards. These pine-covered islets, abundant with little pebble beaches, are a favourite local summer retreat ideal for relaxing picnic, snorkeling or activities such as sailing due to excellent wind conditions in the channel between Korčula island and Pelješac peninsula. Badija hosts a Franciscan monastery and there are lovely pathways around the island where you can meet deers, Vrnik used to be exploited for its stone– the abandoned quarry is still attraction with its remains, Romans left their traces on Majsan
